Abstract
Gasification is a thermochemical process that converts solid fuel substances (e.g., coal, biomass, etc.) into a gas mixture containing methane, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and nitrogen. Apart from product gases, several by-products such as ash, tar, particles of charcoal, and heavier hydrocarbons are also produced from the gasification reaction. This study aims to determine the effect of bed height on the resulting syngas composition with CPFD Bubbling Fluidized Bed Gasifier simulation method using Barracuda Virtual Reactor software. The reactor model used was 400 mm in diameter and 3800 mm in height. The fuel used was wood pellets measuring 7000 - 8000 µm. This study uses 3 variations of the bed height, namely 40 cm, 50 cm, and 60 cm. The bed material uses silica sand, measuring 100 - 300 µm. The result shows that the highest syngas composition was obtained in the variation with a bed height of 60 cm. At the same time, the lowest syngas composition was obtained from
