Abstract
Brick is a type of brick-shaped building elements made from the main ingredients of Portland cement, water, and aggregates used for wall pairs. Many innovations have been made in modifying the building block either in terms of modifying the mixture or adding materials that can minimize the lack of the building block itself. One of them by adding fibers in the manufacture. Fibers used are cut 2.5 cm in the making. This research aims to determine the effect of fiber fibers on the value of water absorption and concrete compressive strength value. The method used is an experimental method with a total of 15 specimens. Each variation consisted of 5 compressive strength test samples with a CTM (Compressing Testing Machine) at 7 days and 5 water absorbency test samples with fiber variation 0%, 3%, and 5% by weight of cement. The specimens are hollow bricks with dimensions of 30 cm long, 14 cm high, 10 cm wide. The results of this study are the compressive strength value of brick with fiber variation 0%, 3%, and 5% of 5,092 MPa; 4,011 MPa; and 3,206 MPa that fulfill the criteria for concrete bricks with holes II, III, and IV. Means that the greater the variation of the fiber fibers the smaller the compressive strength. The value of concrete absorption with the variation of fiber fibers 0%, 3%, and 5% of 3.64%, 6.63%, and 6.16%, from the test results obtained a maximum absorption of 3% variation of 6.63% .
