Abstract

Family whose members have schizophrenia have the stigma and shame of the social environment so that the presence of schizophrenia in their family will really cause great disgrace. This study aims to determine the social acceptance of the community to a family with members who carry schizophrenia. This research is a qualitative approach research and carried out in the community by using five subjects who have neighbors who have schizophrenia. Data collection methods in this study used in-depth interviews. The result is that the community is able to carry out social acceptance to families with members of schizophrenia by interacting such as talking and greeting each other when meeting wherever they are. The concern that they reasoned they had pity and compassion as the reason for caring for their family. interacting with families with members of persons with such as with their other neighbors, this can be seen from how the subjects spend time and help each other together when there are social gathering events and so on in their environment so that any conflicts that occur can be resolved properly. The purpose of this study is to describe the aspects of social acceptance. Their social acceptance is concluded from how they accept acceptance along with the reasons they express, which in essence they interact with the subject's family as with their other neighbors, this can be seen from how the subjects spend time and help each other together.
