Abstract

Character education is education that supports the social, emotional, and ethical development of students. Islamic education is aneffort made to develop all human potential both physically and mentally inorder to form a complete Muslim personality. One of the sources of education in Islam is from the stories of previous people. Muhammad Al-Fatih Book 1453 by Felix Siauw was a book that tells about the struggle of a Muhammad Al-Fatih in the conquest of Contatinople. The story formation of a Muhammad Al-Fatih by his parents and Al-Fatih actions in conquering Contantinople have character values that can be used as role models in character education. This study aims to analyze the value of character education in Muhammad Al-Fatih 1453 book, and to analyze its relevance to Islamic education today. This research was a descriptive study with a library research approach. The literary approach used a pragmatic approach. Data collection was a documentation of the book Muhammad Al-Fatih 1453 by Felix Siauw published by Al-Fatih Press. The analysis technique used in the form of the content analysis. The result of this study were: (1) character value that can be taken in the form of religious value, character education in relation to oneself (honesty, responsibility, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, curiousity, and love to read value). Character education in relation to others (respect for achievement, democratic, social care, and friendly), value of character education in relation to the environment (caring for the environment and tolerance), and value of character education in relation to nationality (national spirit, love homeland, and love peace). (2) its relevance in Islamic religious education was that the value of character education are found to be very important to be applied in the life of a Muslim, especially children or adolescents who will later carry out of task of continuing the life of the nation and state, and this religion.
