Abstract
Schools compete to create an educational system that is considered capable of making students progress. One of them is the full day school system. Primary school education is the first formal education level that will determine the direction of developing the potential of students. Therefore, in elementary schools it is necessary to develop character, including discipline and responsibility. This study aims to describe: 1) To describe the application of full day school in an effort to establish the character of discipline and responsibility of students at SD Muhammadiyah Plus Malangjiwan. 2) To describe the constraints of implementing full day school in an effort to form the character of discipline and responsibility of students at SD Muhammadiyah Plus Malangjiwan. 3) To describe the solution to the constraints of implementing full day school in an effort to form the character of discipline and responsibility of students at SD Muhammadiyah Plus Malangjiwan. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, questionnaires, and observations. Checking the validity of the data used was the source and technique triangulation technique. Data analysis techniques with data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that 1) the application of full day school in the formation of disciplinary character of students which is manifested from various activities at school including: duha prayer, zuhur prayer, muroja'ah, eating together, praying before and after doing activities, and queuing for various activities. while the implementation of full day school in character building the responsibilities of students include: washing cutlery, alms of garbage, infaq, rotating priest duties, and cleaning up prayer utensils. 2) Obstacles to implementing full day school in an effort to establish the character of discipline and responsibility of students include: students themselves who have not been able to obey school rules and the role of guardians of students who do not support activities carried out at school. 3) The solution faced in overcoming the barriers to implementing full day school in an effort to establish the character of discipline and responsibility of students is by communicating well to students then providing directions. For student guardians, the teacher communicates through contact books, WhatsApp groups, guardian meetings, parenting, and home visits.
