Abstract

This research aims to find out the type of amnesia and the amnesia condition by psychoanalytic approach of the main character described by Lexi Smart in the Remember Me novel by Sophie Kinsella. This research used Psychoanalytic approach by Sigmund Freud, such as Id, Ego, and Superego. The object of this study is the Remember Me? novel by Sophie Kinsella in 2008. While the data collected is in the form of words, sentences from the character Lexi Smart, conversation between the character and story from the novel. The type of this research is qualitative research using descriptive method. The research method using in this research is qualitative method. The type of Data from this novel after that divided into two parts, are taken from: primary data and secondary data. The primary data source from novel Remember Me? written by Sophie Kinsella in 2008 and the secondary data are from books, online journals, thesis, and research paper that related to this research. In this research, the researcher using technique of collecting data by document analysis techniques. The result that found in this research, the type of amnesia based on Lexi Smart in this novel is retrograde amnesia and the amnesia condition by psychoanalytic approach are Id, Ego and Superego.
