Abstract

Background: Low back pain patients in Karanganyar Regency Regional General Hospital have increased from 2018 by 67 patients and 2019 to 87 patients. The average patient with Low Back Pain aged 44 – 65 years and women with comorbidities in the form of arthrosis, sciatica, and dyspepsia. Low back pain negatively affects mental sufferers, such as depression, anxiety, and difficulty sleeping. Purpose: Identify the relationship of depression and sleep quality with pain intensity in patients with low back pain. Method: This study uses an analytic observational research design with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted at the neurological clinic of Karanganyar Regency Regional General Hospital in November – December 2019 with 57 respondents taken by purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using univariate analysis, bivariate using chi square and multivariate tests. Result: The results showed that there was a relationship of depression with LBP pain intensity in patients at Karanganyar Regency Regional General Hospital with p value 0.000 (p value <0.05). There is a significant relationship between sleep quality and LBP pain intensity in patients at Karanganyar Regency Regional General Hospital with p value 0.046 (p value <0.05). Conclusion: There is a relationship between depression and sleep quality on LBP pain intensity in patients at Karanganyar Regency Regional General Hospital.
