Abstract

Ovarian cancer is a cancer that grows on the ovary that can cause death in sufferers and is one of the malignant cancers so that it becomes a health problem throughout the world, including in Indonesia. Treatment of ovarian cancer patients can be carried out by operation, radiation and chemotherapy. These chemotherapy can cause the possibility of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs). The main of the study was to determine the incidence and number of ADRs cases and identify the effectiveness of ADRs treatment caused by chemotherapy. The study used prospective observational descriptive and categorical analytics study in 4 months, it was conducted on outpatients of ovarian cancer receiving chemotherapy treatment for at least 1 cycle in the inpatient room of Dr. Moewardi Surakarta from April to August, 2019. Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) that occurred was calculated using the Naranjo probability scale and WHO-UMC. The result showed that about 58 samples that met the inclusion criteria, where the total incidence of ADRs in ovarian cancer patients was 55 (94.83%) patients and those who did not experience ADRs were as many as 3 (5.17%) patients. The types of ADRs that occur in ovarian cancer patients are nausea 45 (77.59%), vomiting 27 (46.55%), anemia 40 (68.97%), alopecia 36 (62.07%), anorexia 28 (48.28%), peripheral neuropathy 24 (41.38%) cases, leukopenia 16 (27.59%) and frequent urination 14 (24.14%). Appropriate management of ADRs in the form of nausea, vomiting, anemia, peripheral neuropathy and leukopenia has a significant relationship to symptom improvement and effectiveness of ADRs management, but not with anorexia.
