Abstract
This research was conducted on the UKM PRAKTIS of making leather shoes. In the production process, there are 3 work stations, namely pattern work stations, upper printing work stations, finishing work stations and 16 work activities. Workers perform repetitive movements, especially in the upper extremities such as the elbows, forearms, wrists, hands, back, neck which are adjusted to the demands of the job and workplace standards, production activities are carried out manually with a standing or sitting position that bends, squats and is carried out repetitively and workers carry out their activities at a normal speed up to a fast for 7 hours / day. This situation indicates the activity is classified as a dangerous category and can cause the risk of MSDs. The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze work posture conditions using the Job Strain Index (JSI) and Muscle Fatigue Assessment (MFA) methods. JSI includes an assessment of 6 variables, among others; intensity of effort, duration of effort, effort per minute, posture of the hand / wrist, speed of work and duration of work. The MFA method is to determine muscle fatigue that occurs in each part of the worker's body by determining the level of effort, duration of work, and determining the frequency of work movements. The results of the JSI method research were carried out on all 14 activities and the high risk was obtained the SI activity of printing the upper right hand 20.25 and fitting the right hand sole 13.5. The results of the MFA method study showed that the parts of the body with high to very high risk were the back, neck and right hand, so that recommendations were given to reduce muscle fatigue in each part of the body. Proposals for improvements that were given were the upper printing station repair design, table design improvements in designing and drawing patterns, improving the design of chairs for sewing activities.
