Abstract

This study aims to 1) identify and describe how the scientific approach is to the student book on the theme of the development and growth of living things, the characteristics of the Class III Class III curriculum 2013; 2) Identify and describe how to integrate the values of character education in the Student Book on the theme of the development and growth of living things, the characteristics of the Class III Class III curriculum 2013. This research method is a qualitative research method. The type of research used is content analysis. The results of this study, namely from five activities of the scientific approach, found 4 activities in learning 1 to 6, namely: 1) observing; 2) try; 3) reasoning and 4) communicating; but the questioning activity was not found. These activities are contained in the text, questions and command sentences. The activity of observing can be found in the command sentence to read, pay attention and listen to information. Trying activities are found in questions to collect information and make something, and imitate. The activity of reasoning is implicitly found when there is a sentence to solve something to solve a problem. Meanwhile, communicating activities are found in the command sentence to share findings with friends. Meanwhile, of the 18 values of character education, in lessons 1-6 found 14 values, namely: 1) Religious; 2) Honest 3) Tolerance, 4) Discipline; 5) Hard work; 6) Creative; 7) Independent; 8) Curiosity; 9) Respect Achievements; 10) Friendly / Communicative; 11) Love Peace; 12) Like to Read; 13) Environmental Care; 14) Responsibility. The character education value is integrated in the command sentence and in the reading text. The sentence is in the form of commands to be grateful, appreciate differences, do something based on rules, do assignments, seek information, congratulate friends on awards, tell stories, not be provocative, and be responsible for yourself to God.
