Abstract
EFFECT OF PROPOELIXTM ON BLOOD TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN WISTAR ALBINO STRAIN RATS OF DYSLIPIDEMIA MODELS. Introduction : Dyslipidemia is a condition of fat in the blood that exceeds normal limits. Fat in the blood consists of lipoprotein, total cholesterol, and triglycerides. The prevalence of dyslipidemia in Indonesia based on total cholesterol <240 mg/dl is Sundanese 9% and Javanese 12,6%. The normal level of total cholesterol in the blood is < 200 mg/dl. Dyslipidemia has the main sign of hypercholesterolemia. PropoelixTM is used to prevent increasing in total cholesterol levels in the blood and prevent oxidatives stress. PropoelixTM is propolis which is already in extract form. The most common compounds in PropoelixTM are Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester (CAPE). Research Objectives : To determine the effect of PropoelixTM on total blood cholesterol levels in the white rats (Rattus Novergicus) wistar strain model dyslipidemia. Research Method : The research was true experimental design with pre-test and post-test control group design. The number of experimental animals used was 28 male albino wistar strain rats that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The experimental animals were divided into 4 groups. Group 1 was the positive control group, group 2 was the negative group (dyslipidemia), groups 3 and 4 was the treatment group with animal dyslipidemia given PropoelixTM at a dose of 0.0216 g / 200gBBicus / day (group 3) and a dose of 0.0432 g / 200gBicus / day (group 4). Measurement of total cholesterol levels used the CHOD-PAP method pre test and post test treatment. The results were analyzed using the One Way Anova test. Result : The results showed that there was a significant decrease (p-value <0.05) on total cholesterol levels of rats given PropoelixTM at a dose of 0.0216 g / 200gBtikus / day and 0.0432 g / 200gBtikus / day. The group that have been given 0.0216 g / 200gBB / day PropoelixTM dose decreased to 146.13 mg / dl and the group that have been given 0.0432 g / 200gBB / day PropoelixTM dose decreased by 109.13 mg / dl. Conclusion : The giving of PropoelixTM to the dyslipidemic rat model at a dose of 0.0216 g / 200 g BB Rat / day and a dose of 0.0432 g / 200 g BB Rat / day could significantly reduce the total cholesterol level of the rat blood model of dyslipidemia.
