Abstract

The village of Melikan located in the District of Wedi, Klaten Regency. The village of Melikan initiated and inaugurated as a tourism village because of the pottery industry in the village. The pottery handicrafts industry in the Village of Melikan is considered interesting because of the technique of round oblique, the technique of tilt rotation is considered as something unique and also rare. The technique of tilt rotation is considered to have a very deep philosophy that respects women artisans. Local wisdom in pottery industry is what ultimately makes the Village of Melikan pioneered to be used as a tourism village. The village of Melikan can be classified into village tourist economy, because that became its main attractions are the livelihoods that are typical of the residents of the village. Development and design of the Village of Melikan as a tourist area that offers the potential of nature and the environment as well as the activity of the pottery artisans ' community, is an activity to organize the village with the intent to raise the standard of community welfare and existence of pottery in the Village of Melikan. These activities are supported by the utilization of spaces that accommodate the public and tourists such as public facilities, education, economic, social, and local culture, so in that way the public and tourists to be able to establish a positive interaction.
