Abstract

The term hospital implies a hope that the hospital must support recovery. Not only through medical factors, but also psychological factors. Hospitals must be able to direct patients to healthy hopes and optimism for recovery. This psychological factor can be supported by an environmental approach, the goal of which is to shape perceptions through the relationship between thoughts and behavior. A research has shown that medical factors support recovery by 10%, genetic factors 20%, environmental factors 40% and other factors 30%. By using a qualitative descriptive method, through literature review, interviews and questionnaires, it is obtained data that humans have an attachment to nature, whose closeness cannot be separated. This is related to the biophilia theory which explains that humans have a tendency to be affiliated with nature, nature can provide positive energy to human psychology. Healing Environment is a concept that prioritizes the environment. There are three main approaches applied in this concept; the first approach through the natural environment, the second approach through human sensory stimulation, and the third approach through human psychology whose purpose is to improve cognition and feelings of patients and users. Through the concept of biophilic design, the hospital design is expected to form a healing environment in the hospital for successful healing, increase user comfort and improve employee work ethics. Positive suggestions and optimism can eliminate feelings of anxiety, stress and depression, so that antibody production will increase and antigens are prevented by the immune system from entering and creating new diseases, while for employees a comfortable condition will provide restorative against fatigue due to workloads.
