Abstract
Postponing doing assignments related to academics is a phenomenon that often occurs among students. This is called academic procrastination. The aim of this research are (1) to examine the relation between self-regulation and academic procrastination of activist and non-activist students, and (2) to test the differences of self-regulation between activist and non-activist students, and (3) differences of academic procrastination between activist and non-activist students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The subjects in this research were 403 active undergraduate students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The sampling technique used in this study are purposive sampling. Tools that used to collect the data in this study are the Magno scale (2010) Academic Self-Regulated Learning Scale (A-SRL-S) and the Tuckman scale (1991) Academic 2 Procrastination Scale. We are using Spearman Rank correlation technique Data analysis to test the hypothesis. Based on the analysis of correlation data obtained the coefficient (rxy) of -0.206 and sig. (p) of 0.000 (p <0.5), which indicates a negative relationship between self-regulation and student academic procrastination. The correlation coefficient value is negative, which means the higher a student's self-regulation, the lower his academic procrastination behavior. The t test results for the self-regulation variable found a t value of 2.539 with sig (2-tailed) 0.011 (p <0.05), it can be concluded that there are differences in selfregulation between activist and non-activist students. Furthermore, for the t test results of academic procrastination variable, it was found that the t value was - 2.260 with sig (2-tailed) 0.024 (p <0.05), so it can be concluded that there were differences in academic procrastination between activist and non-activist students.
