Abstract
The objectives to be achieved in this study include three things. One knows the typography and graphic text news in the mass media used in textbooks as Indonesian language learning material in high school? Two know the description of the strengths and weaknesses of the message content in the news text that is used as a medium for learning Indonesian in high school? Three knowing the description of the feasibility of using news texts in textbooks in learning Indonesian in high school? The method of data analysis uses descriptive qualitative methods. (a) The translational equivalent method is used for typographic and graphic text news analysis, (b) The translational and equivalent referential method for analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the message content form in the news text, (c) Expert triangulation techniques for analyzing the feasibility of using alternative news texts in learning media. From 1-18 data, there are 8 data that have graphic elements, namely data 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, and 15. The graphics in the test are in the form of images that can provide a stimulus or stimulus for readers to understand the text. complete news. The 10 data includes data 1, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, and 18 which are not supported by graphic elements (supporting images) so that they can cause boredom in students in reading text. The discussion based on typography is based on the completeness of the news elements, there are 12 data that have fulfilled the news elements including data, 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 18. complete. incomplete information. As for data 2, 4, 10, 13, 16, and 17, there are several unfulfilled elements. From data analysis 1 - 18 using fry chart calculations it can be concluded that the data 3, 4, 5, 8, 12 and 14 are in accordance with what students need. As for data 1, 2, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17, and 18, the readability does not correspond to the level of use. Data 1, 2, 6, 7, and 9 have low readability, the text is not suitable for use at the user level class. The data 3, 4, 5 and 8 have high readability values suitable for use for students above high school. Data 10, 11, and 13 have low readability, the text is suitable for classes under SMA. The data 15, 16, 17, and 18 have high readability scores suitable for use for students above high school. Data 1-18 eligibility requirements based on KD are feasible or appropriate. Then for the novelty elements of the data text 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 10,11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18, it has fulfilled the newness of the information. As for data 3, 5, 6, and 9 not yet fulfilled because the data is more than an old event.
