Abstract

The reseach is aimed at analyzing how the difference ability of students to solve the problem of the system of linear equantions for two variables based on Polya theory in terms of cognitive aspects in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Sambi. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research, while the methode of data collection method is observation, written tests, interviews and documentation. The research subjects consisted of 4 students consisting of 2 students from Field Independent FI cognitive style and 2 students from FD cognitive style. Based on the research results obtained FI subject is able to understand the problem, plan the problem, solve the problem, and only 1 subject that checks the results of the work. Whereas the FD subject resolves the problem, but does not rewrite the result of the work. On the result of the owrk the subject of the FD does not write in full the elements in problem solving. The conclution that can be drawn is the subject of FI in solving problems.
