Abstract

The public library in Sukoharjo Regency is still one area with the District Archives Service of Sukoharjo Regency. This public library must have a variety of land with the Archives Service, which makes this public library building have an area that is not standard according to the city library. This will certainly create its own problems for the library, because in a land that is not too broad must accommodate two different functions, namely the function as a city public library and a function as a regional archives. The consequence of this problem is that the library is unable to accommodate many visitors, cannot function optimally both in terms of comfort, service, and also with limited space due to having to share land with the Regional Archives Service. The purpose of the design of public libraries in Sukoharjo Regency is that public libraries have their own land and buildings and can accommodate a greater number of visitors, more book collections, and can provide services and comfort for visitors better than before. This can also increase the number of visitors coming to public libraries and can increase interest in reading in the Sukoharjo Regency. So it impacts on increasing Human Resources (HR) in Sukoharjo Regency which has competitiveness and quality. The concept approach that will be used in the design of public library buildings is the approach to contemporary architectural concepts. This concept aims to create a building that has a special attraction for humans, so as to create creativity and new innovations in terms of the appearance of the building, improve cognitive function, improve well-being, and reduce stress. This concept is very suitable to be applied to public library buildings that have a function as educational facilities, because this building has a high level of comfort in each room. This is inseparable from the function of the library building as a place to add knowledge and information through reading books.
