Abstract

This research is conducted to describe the types of register and the types of meanings used in MotoGP race. In this research, information about register in MotoGP is always updated. There are new words in the MotoGP race that not everyone knows what it means. The data contained words and sentences used on the official MotoGP page. Data source comes from social media Instagram. This type of research was descriptive qualitative. The object of research was from the MotoGP official Instagram. The author collected posts on the official MotoGP account page, the author read carefully, and wrote words and sentences from the list and provides data codes. In analyzing data, the author classified data into categories as registers, analyzes data by identifying linguistic forms of registers, analyzing types of registers based on Rinaaghna’s theory (2012). Based on the analysis conducted, the researcher found that there were 6 data formal register types and 9 data included in the consultative register. The researcher also analyzed types of meaning by using Geoffrey Leech's theory (1981) and the researcher found two types of meanings namely 5 data types of formal meanings and 10 data included in the affective meaning
