Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the descending channel position on the chemical composition, porosity defects, hardness and micro photographs. The raw material of this research is used aluminium or rubbing from various components which are repainted. This research will examine the influence of the position of the descending channel of Upper (A), Side (B), and Middle (C). In this research, testing methods including chemical composition test (ASTM E-1251), micro-photo test with Metallographic Microscope (ASTM E-3), porosity observation, and Brinell hardness test (ASTM E-10 standard). The results showed that the results of the chemical composition were found to be found chemical elements (Al) 81.20%, (Si) 11.8%, (Fe) 4.50%. So that the elements that have this material include aluminum alloy silicon metal (Al-Si). The highest price of violence was in the sprue A position of 99.48 BHN, while in the sprue B position was 79.04 BHN, and the sprue C position was 74.11 BHN. it occurs because the porosity defect causes violence reduced metal.
