Abstract

Existing technology continues to develop very quickly, especially cryptocurrency technology with products in the form of a virtual currency Bitcoin. It's just that the cryptocurrency product in question has not been regulated that is related to its regulation, so it involves related to its security. This study examines how to apply the law relating to traders who still use bitcoin as a means of payment in Indonesia. The research method used by the author is descriptive research with normative juridical approach based on literature study. In Indonesia, the use of Bitcoin has existed since 2010 and 44 traders in Bali use Bitcoin as a means of payment. Based on observations made not including legal action related to the use of Bitcoin. While according to Law No.7 of 2011 concerning Currency, the use of Bitcoin cannot be used in Indonesia, because Bitcoin is considered not the official currency that is permitted to be used in Indonesia.
