Abstract

Several phenomena have been discovered by researchers that many employees are absent from work because of the low commitment that employees have towards the organization. So the purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship of work motivation and organizational cynicism with organizational commitment to employees. Researchers propose a hypothesis in this study that there is a relationship between work motivation and organizational commitment, there is a relationship between organizational cynicism and organizational commitment and the relationship between work motivation and organizational cynicism with organizational commitment to employees. The population in this study are employees who work in Banjarsari Subdistrict, Surakarta City. From this population researchers took 80 people as a sample in this study. Determination of the sample using population study techniques. This research method uses a quantitative approach, with organizational commitment as the dependent variable (Y) and work motivation (X1) and organizational cynicism (X2) as independent variables. Data collection in this study is that the subjects fill in the organizational commitment questionnaire scale with reliability α = 0.901, work motivation scale α = 0.753 and creativity scale α = 0.515. Data analysis techniques using multiple regression analysis that has met the test for normality and linearity. The results of analysis for minor hypotheses seen from the Pearson correlation value (r) for work motivation with organizational commitment of 0.734 with a significance of 0,000 <0.01 means there is a very significant positive relationship between work motivation with organizational commitment then Pearson correlation value (r) for cynicism organization with an organizational commitment of -0.564 with a significance of 0,000 <0.01 means there is a very significant negative relationship between organizational cynicism with organizational commitment. The major hypothesis seen from the ANOVA table shows an F value of 47.984 with sig. 0,000 <0.01 which means there is a very significant positive relationship between work motivation and organizational cynicism with organizational commitment, it can be concluded that the major hypothesis of this study was accepted. Effective contribution of independent variables can be seen from the value of R Square (R2) of 55.5% with details of work motivation affecting organizational commitment by 46.31% and organizational cynicism affecting organizational commitment by 9.19% while 44.5% is influenced by other variables.
