Abstract
The research aims to: 1) The influence of the level of parental education on the interest in continuing study to tertiary institutions in class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura. 2) The effect of parents' income on the interest in continuing their studies to college in class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura. 3) The influence of parents 'education level and parents' income on the interest in continuing their studies to tertiary institutions in class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura. The research population of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura was 391 students, the sample was taken 127 students using simple random sampling technique. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression. The results obtained by Y = 35,708 + 0,984 X_1 + 1,447 X_2 equation explains that the level of parental education and parental income influence the interest in continuing studies. The results of the analysis and discussion concluded that: 1) The level of parental education has a positive effect on students' interest in continuing their studies to college with a probability value <0.05, 0.007. 2) Parents' income has a positive effect on interest in continuing their studies to tertiary institutions with a probability value <0.05 which is 0.004. 3) The level of parental education and parental income together positively influences the interest in continuing study to tertiary institutions, obtained the value of F_count> Ftable = 16.536> 3.07 and the probability value <0.05 which is a significance level of 0.000. The coefficient of determination is 21.1% which means that there is an influence given by the variable level of parental education and parental income on students' interest to continue their studies to college by 21.1% while 78.9% is influenced by other factors not examined by author
