Abstract

The village of Kalimacan was received by 179 workers, construction laborers played a role in the construction of office building. Their work must rely on their physical strength to produce the desired product. Often construction workers do not use tools when moving, pushing, lifting an item that they think can be done manually. This un ergonomic position can cause health problems such as musculoskeletal complaints. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between manual handling with musculoskeletal disorders in construction workers in Kalimacan Village. The design of this study used a cross sectional approach. The technique used in sampling is simpel random sampling with a sample of 84 building coolies. The results of the study with the Spearman rank correlation test obtained p value (sig) of 0.044 <0.05 with an r value of 0.220 which means there is a relationship. From the results of this study it can be concluded that there is a relationship between manual handling with musculoskeletal disorders in construction coolies in Kalimacan Village with low relationship strength. Suggestions that can be given are to do short breaks, do muscle stretching movements, pay attention to work positions.
