Abstract

Background: Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease that causes swelling, stiffness, pain, and loss of joint function. According to the World Health Organization (2016) the incidence of Rheumatoid Arthritis has increased by 355 people from 165 million in 2015. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in the joints and limbs. Anxiety is a feeling of worry, doubt, and emotions that arise vaguely and spread as an initial response to psychological stress and the threat of impending danger to the individual. Independence is freedom to act, does not depend on others, and the ability to carry out daily activities to meet their daily needs without supervision and direction. Objective: To determine the level of anxiety and the level of independence of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis in Mancasan village. Research Methods: This type of research is quantitative research and the research method is descriptive survey. The total sample of 91 respondents with the sampling technique is total sampling. Data collection was used to determine the level of anxiety using the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) questionnaire with 14 questions and the level of independence using the Barthel Index questionnaire with as many as 10 questions. While data analysis uses univariate. Research Results: Research in Mancasan village respondents did not experience anxiety (70.3%), experienced mild anxiety (17.6%) and (12.1%) experienced moderate anxiety. While independent respondents (94.5%), experienced mild dependence (5.5%). Conclusion: Rheumatoid Arthritis sufferers are categorized as majority of female respondents. Age category of majority of productive age. The category of education is the majority of elementary schools (SD), and the majority occupational categories are housewives. Based on the analysis most respondents did not experience anxiety and were independent.
