Abstract

A shift or change in vote acquisition is a natural thing to happen to a party that follows the general election agenda, and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is no exception. This study aims to determine changes in the base of the votes of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle in the 2014 and 2019 elections in Sukoharjo Regency. This study uses the electoral geography to determine the relationship between physical and non-physical factors with the vote acquisition of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle in the 2014 and 2019 elections in Sukoharjo Regency. The methods of data analyzing are descriptive analysis, Geographic Association Coefficient (KAG) analysis, Local Quotient (LQ) and descriptive analysis for qualitative data. The unit of analysis used is the village. The results showed that PDIP obtained 88 villages from 166 villages in 2014 in 2019 becoming 90 villages from 166 villages as voting bases in Sukoharjo Regency. Level of LQ analysis at the District level, PDIP in the 2014 election gained 7 Sub districts that became the basis and 5 other Sub districts became non-base, in the 2019 elections there was a decline and the change in PDIP vote base became 6 Sub districts that became the basis and the remaining 6 Districts became non-bases. Geographical factors influencing the change in PDIP votes are the level of voters educations in the form level of no schooling and junior high schooling, the livelihoods of the population with the labor sector, voters with the age of 37-45 years, sociological factors such as religious symbols in the form of mosques and the mosque showing the results that the basis of time PDIP is in the area that has the lowest number of mosques and small prayer rooms in the sub-district, while for the areas that are non-bases are dominated by the highest number of mosques and small prayer rooms in the sub-district, besides the strengthening political identity makes the party with an Islamic ideology experience an increase. For physical factors such as flat and hilly, the effect is not too significant.
