Abstract
The research started from the problem of higher education that is not evenly distributed in Indonesia between Java and outer java. There is a limited scientific field that is a field of geographic sciences. The field of geography whose interest is still less than other science, whereas the central government especially the region needs geologists. UMS is the only private niversity to have a faculty of Geography (FG) in Indonesia. The spread of geography of graduates UMS needs to be mapped to know the equitable of the student area so that the faculty can plan a marketing strategy to increase the interest of prospective students in the region that little even no students. The purpose of this research for (1) analyzing the trend of spatial distribution pattern of the student origin of FG UMS in 2015-2019, (2) Knowing the trend of characteristics of sosio-spatial parents students of FG UMS 2015-2019, (3) Knowing the marketing strategy of FG UMS related to socio-spatial trends and the pattern of spatial distribution area of student origin. The research methods used are secondary data analysis and primary data structured interviews with FG UMS leadership. The data analysis method used in this research is a descriptive analytical technique. The geographic analysis approach used is approach. Results obtained, among others (1) trend of spatial students of the Faculty of Geography of the year 2015-2019 is increasingly clustered with the results of the Moran index 0 < I ≤ 1 and indicating the presence of positive spatial autocorrelation (2) Socio-spatial trends of parents of students of the Faculty of Geography of UMS 2015-2019 have a relatively fixed trend with the education of parents of FG UMS students in Sulawesi Island is moderate, Java Island, Sumatra, Nusa Tenggara, Papua and Maluku are high, Kalimantan Island is very high, Kalimantan Island income level is and Nusa Tenggara is moderate, Java, Sumatra, Papua and Sulawesi are high and Maluku is very high, Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Papua and Sulawesi are dominated by civil servant parents while the majority of Maluku and Nusa Tenggara islands are self-employed.(3) Marketing strategy that will be applied to FG UMS related socio-spatial students with a product strategy that is improving the quality of lecturers, fixing laboratories, prepare excellent programs and improve the quality of graduates, the price strategy by following the increase in the price of goods and services and the policy of rising prices of universities with regard to the market share to the bottom, the place strategy has not yet established a specific location to attract students, promotion strategy with online and offline based road
