Abstract

Background: Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally with cases of 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Globocan data show that in 2018 the incidence of cancer in Indonesia (136.2 / 100,000 population) ranks 8th in Southeast Asia. The highest incidence rate for women is mammae cancer. Mammae cancer is a lump found in the breast due to uncontrolled growth of cancer cells in the breast tissue. The condition of the tissues in the breast indicates that the normal cells lose their function and the cancer cells in the breast multiply, then attack the adjacent tissues. Stress is an unpleasant condition caused by pressure or failure experienced by someone that cannot be effectively treated. While depression is a mental disorder in the form of mood changes associated with feelings marked from changes in behavior and habits that occur over a long time. Objective: To determine the level of stress and depression in patients with breast cancer in RSUD Dr. moewardi Surakarta. Research Method: The type of research in this research is quantitativez and the research method used is simple descriptive. The number of samples is 45 respondents with purposive sampling technique. Data collection used by using the DASS 42 questionnaire amounted to 28 questions, while the data analysis used univariate. Results: Research at RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta respondents did not experience stress (57.8%), mild stress (20%), moderate stress (17.8%) and severe stress (4.4%). While respondents who did not experience depression (60%), mild depression (20%) and moderate depression (20%). Conclusion: sufferers of mammae cancer in RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta namely the most age category is 51-60 years old, the last education is at most elementary schools (SD), most of the respondents are housewives (IRT), most respondents are married, most of the respondents suffer from illness within 1-12 months and phases of illness in the majority of respondents entered at stage 2. Based on the analysis most respondents did not experience stress and depression.
