Abstract

The Qur'an consists of a meaningful series of lafaz. Each lafaz unit in the Qur'an has profound theological implications. Amānāh is a lafaz which has a broad and comprehensive understanding in navigating every aspect of human life. Amānāh is mentioned in the Qur'an 14 times in 10 letters. Amānāh is a concept in the Qur'an related to the religious nature of a Muslim. In shari'ah view, amānāh contains many broad meanings and covers many facets of understanding. Its scope includes protecting property, protecting disgrace, maintaining trust and covering everything entrusted to him on the basis of the awareness that he is responsible before God Almighty. This thesis seeks to obtain a view of the interpretation of the meaning of amānāh in the Qur'an which is examined from the interpretation of Ibn Kātsīr. The main problem raised as the main study is how Ibn Kātsīr's explanation in interpreting the verses of amānāh. The purpose of this thesis research is intended to obtain a comprehensive, in-depth review of the interpretation of the meaning of amānāh from the perspective of Ibn Kātsīr and the objects of his study. This thesis research is a qualitative research, which is a type of library or library research, with a documentation approach or by finding and collecting various data relating to this research. This study discusses the Qur'an directly which is supported by several representative interpretive books, dictionaries and translations of the Qur'an that are used to search for verses about amānāh. Based on the final results of the interpretation of the meaning of amānāh from the perspective of Ibn Kātsīr that there are 2 sources of amānāh, namely from God and Man. Amānāh sourced from Allah contains all forms of commands and prohibitions. While amānāh sourced from Man is related to all forms of trust, whether in the form of property, position, guarding disgrace and so forth. Every action will be held accountable. Carrying out tasks in accordance with what is mandated is essential in building a civil and prosperous society, especially in the context of today's life. Keywords: Ibn Kātsīr, Amānāh
