Abstract
This research is aimed of describing the form and classifying the intention of directive utterance. The object is directive utterances. The data are sentences containing directive intention. In collecting the data, the writer uses documentation method by selecting the directive utterance, which can be found in English translation of Koran especially chapter Ali-Imron. To describe the form, the writer refers to grammatical rules of English intention. While to describe the intention, the writer uses pragmatics approach especially speech acts theory. Having analyzed the data, the writer finds that first; the patterns of form of the directive utterances are negative imperative, positive imperative, interrogative, and declarative. The second; the speaker’s intentions are commanding/ordering, requesting, suggestion, warning, and invitation. Commanding, warning, invitation and requesting are called direct locution utterance, because it is often uttered in imperative sentence. Suggestion is called indirect illocution utterance. The speaker of the utterance is God who the addressees are Prophet, believer, human being, the disbeliever, and the Jews. The utterances mostly talk about Tauhid
