Abstract

This research aims to: 1) determine the characteristics of science module based SALINGTEMAS to increasing students’ critical thinking abilites of junior high school VII grade on the calor material; 2) examine the properness of science module based SALINGTEMAS to increasing students’ critical thinking abilites of junior high school VII grade on the calor material; 3) examine the effectiveness of science module based SALINGTEMAS to improve critical thinking abilites, results in VII grade the junior high school on the calor material. Research and development models which use is four-D Thiagarajan. The step are (1) define’s step; (2) design’s step; (3) develop’s step; (4) disseminate’s step. The development of this module was observed based on the properness content, presentation, language, which was tried out to 9 students. After revising, this module was tried out to VIIG class. This module is module SALINGTEMAS, which steps are contents of learning on questioning, formulating the hyphotesis, predicting, designing experimenting, defining tools and material, identifying variables, observing, measuring metrically, constructing a graph, classifying, processing your on data, inffering and communicating. Data analyzed by using is descriptive analysis, properness analysis module based on the score criteria and analysis of critical thinking abilites with t-test. The result of this research: (1) characteristics SALINGTEMAS module to increase students’ critical thinking abilites has some such as the step of learning instruction is suited by the components of SALINGTEMAS, integrating critical thinking abilites in every component and containing critical thingking test; (2) properness module of SALINGTEMAS to Increase students’ critical thinking abilites in the kalor material has an average score of 90,55% and this category is ”very good”, which means the module deserve to be used as supporting other teaching materials; (3) effectiveness critical thinking abilites of students in the class VIIG on the kalor material after using SALINGTEMAS module is increase that can be seen from the N-gain score of operational trials is 0,77 (“moderate” category) with significance 0,000.
