Abstract
Introduction: Youth are the largest population in the world. Adolescent development has a different impact on each individual, the period of change from children to adulthood greatly affects the onset of depression or stress if he is unable to adapt to himself and the environment and can be marked by changes in perception in individuals. Self-concept is the view that a person has of himself. The component of self concept consists of body image, self identity, self ideal, self role and self esteem. Objective: to find a picture of self-concept that appears in depressed adolescents at the Imam Syuhodo boarding school. Research Methods: The research method used is descriptive quantitative. Respondents numbered 43 people using a questionnaire. This research uses Nonprobability sampling with total sampling technique. Characteristics of the sample used are ninth grade adolescents living in Islamic boarding schools, ages 12-19 years, adolescents who are detected to be depressed and willing to be respondents. Results: The results of this study showed a picture of self-concept in depressed adolescents stay in Sukoharjo Islamic boarding school found 27 adolescents (63%) with negative body image and 16 adolescents (37%) with positive body image, 32 adolescents (74% ) with negative self-identity and 11 adolescents (26%) with positive self-identity, 34 adolescents (79%) with negative self-ideals and 9 adolescents (21%) with positive self-ideals, 32 adolescents (74%) with negative self-roles and negative and 11 adolescents (26%) with positive self-roles, and 32 adolescents (74%) with negative self-esteem and 11 adolescents (26%) with positive self-esteem. Conclusion: Depressed adolescents who live in Islamic boarding schools have a disruption in their self-concept which includes body image, self-identity, self-ideal, self-role and self-esteem in depressed adolescents are in the component of negative self-concept.
