Abstract

Background : Stroke is a disease that is very common in old age because at that age metabolism begins to decline so that it is more susceptible to disease and some disorders caused by stroke include weakness in upper and lower limbs and decreased sensory disturbance in certain areas. One of the physiotherapy interventions for electrical electrical stimulation is a modality that is designed to provide a stimulating effect on muscles and nerves that aims to increase the strength of muscle tone and stimulate the workings of weak nerves. Objectives: Electrical Stimulation as an innovation in physiotherapy interventions in stroke cases with complaints of muscle weakness, so that it can become a foundation in future research on Functional Electrical Stimulation of stroke cases Methode : To investigatory the effect of functional electrical stimulation / fes towards improvement of muscle balance in stroke patients. Result : In this study the Barthel index results MR P in the activity of dressing, BAB, BAK, Toilet use, increased in the first week. In addition to eating and neatness, there was an increase in the third week. But do not experience improvement in bath activities, moving, mobility, and up and down stairs. As for the MR A found in the first week increased in neatness and BAK, BAB, besides that in the second mingau increased in eating, dressing, and toilet use activities, and in the third week increased in bathing activity, besides that an increase also occurs again in BAK activities and toilet use. But on the move activity, mobility, and nail down stairs do not change Conclusion : Functional Electrical Stimulation affects the muscle imbalance in stroke patients. Evidenced by the results of the Bathel index point graph, it shows that the functional electrical stimulation of the wrist extensor gets results can add strength in the activities of eating, dressing, neatness, bathing, defecating (defecating), urinating, and toilet use.
