Abstract

One indicator of economic growth is the emergence of industrial zones in a region. The emergence of an industry can bring both positive and negative impacts. A negative impact arises when the establishment of an industry does not comply with the existing spatial plan. While the economic impact is more on increasing regional GDP and the economy of the community around the industrial area. Karanganyar Regency is one of the potential areas to be developed into industrial zones in several of its regions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the potential and suitability of the region for the development of medium and small industrial areas. The method used in this research is secondary data analysis. The results showed that there are variations in the level of potential and suitability of the region for the development of medium and small industrial areas in Karanganyar Regency. High potential is spread in 6 districts including Karanganyar, Jaten, Colomadu, Gondangrejo, Kebakkramat, and Mojgedang Districts. Potential is being spread in 5 districts including Districts of Jumapolo, Jumantono, Matesih, Tasikmadu, and Kerjo. Meanwhile, the low potential is spread in 6 districts, including Kecamatan Jatipuro, Jatiyoso, Tawangmangu, Ngargoyoso, Karangpandan, and Jenawi District. Areas that have high potential are areas with flat topography have aquifers with moderate to high productivity, have good road infrastructure, have good communication facilities, have good road infrastructure, have low levels of building density, and have a productive population (labor force) a lot. The region that has a very suitable suitability level has an area of 1,397.36 km2 which is spread in several parts of the Colomadu, Gondangrejo, Jaten, Karanganyar, Kebakkramat, and Mojogedang Districts. The region that has a suitability level according to has an area of 235.87 km2 which is spread in several parts of the Districts of Jumantono, Jumapolo, Kerjo, Matesih, and Tasikmadu. Areas that have a less suitable suitability level have an area of 64.99 km2 which is spread in several parts of the districts of Jatipuro, Jatiyoso, Jenawi, Karangpandan, Ngargoyoso, Tawangmangu, Colomadu, Gondangrejo, Jaten, Jumantono, Jumapolo, Karanganyar, Kebakkramat, Kerjo, Kerjo, Kerjo, Kerjo, Kerjo, Kerjo Matesih, and Mojogedang. Areas that have inappropriate suitability levels have an area of 78,736.98 km2 which is spread in almost all the Subdistrict areas in Karanganyar Regency.
