Abstract

This study aims to determine how the process of publishing a book between publishers and authors and the process of royalty payments made by the publisher to the author. This research is descriptive in nature which gives a description in the form of research results that occur in the field objectively then analyzed legally. This research was conducted with an empirical juridical approach in which the results of the study will be reviewed from the Act and regulations relating to issues where data is obtained from interviews. Data from this study include primary data and secondary data. Primary data is information obtained directly from interviews with SPV Charissa Publisher. The results of this study concluded that there are two processes in book publishing, namely searching for manuscripts and book publishing agreements. Search for manuscripts is done in two ways, namely through agents and publishers or writers. The granting of economic rights in the form of royalties made by Charissa Publisher is in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 28 Year 2014 concerning Copyrights Articles 8 and 9 and by Islamic law the royalty payments made are in accordance with the Islamic profit sharing requirements of Islamic law.
