Abstract

This study aims to explain (1) the structure that builds Oka Rusmini’s Kenanga (2) Kenanga's personality as the main character (3) its implementation as literary teaching material in SMA. The research method is descriptive qualitative. The techniques of collecting data are through library, heed and taking notes. The type of research is library research and the data validation uses triangluation theory. The results of this study are (1) the structure of novel Kenanga covers the theme of a very complex journey of life both in terms of culture, history, and romance, and the facts of the story include a mixed plot, one main character and nine additional figures, the setting in Bali and Yogyakarta, the social setting of Balinese customs which occurred in 1990-1991, (2) there are three types of human personality in the main character according to the Id, Ego, and Superego aspects. (3) the results of this study can be implemented as literary teaching materials in high school in KD 3.11 grade XI according to the selection criteria according to aspects of language, aspects of psychology, and aspects of cultural background of students.
