Abstract
Madrasah Salafiyyah Wustha (MSW) al-Ukhuwwah is one of the levels of education under the auspices of the al-Ukhuwwah Sukoharjo Islamic Boarding School, in learning Arabic the al-Ukhuwwah Islamic Boarding School chooses effective and easy learning methods for students to learn. The method is the al-rArabiyyah Bayna Yadaik method as the main method to improve the Arabic language ability of students of MSW students, which method is considered effective enough to improve the students' Arabic language skills. The author examines how the application of the ABY method in improving Arabic language skills of students of MSW al-Ukhuwwah and what are the obstacles to the application of the ABY method, in which the researcher focuses on describing the application of ABY in improving the Arabic language skills of santri, and identifying the obstacles in its application . This study uses a qualitative type using field studies at MSW al-Ukhuwwah. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation from several parts of the school. Data analysis was performed using a phenomenological qualitative approach that begins with reducing data, then presenting data and drawing conclusions using the deductive method. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the application of the ABY method in improving Arabic language skills of students of MSW al-Ukhuwwah is quite effective, this is because the ABY method applies four language skills which include: al-Istima '(listening), al-Kalam (speaking), al -Qira'ah (reading), and al-Kitabah (writing). The learning steps of the ABY method have three steps, including: initial activities, core activities, and final activities. Furthermore, there are two constraints on the application of the ABY method, namely, On internal factors, 1) students have difficulty when finding vocabulary in Arabic, 2) students in receiving Arabic lessons, 3) there is a gap between students who can and those who cannot speak Arabic. As for the external factors, 1) the material is too long, the rules are small, the sheets are limited, 2) the price of the book is expensive, 3) the guide book does not match the number of students, 4) the selection process is less strict.
