Abstract

Every school has its own culture and habits. One of the school cultures that we often find is 'Literacy Culture'. As in Colomadu Middle School 2 that applies literacy culture not only in linguistic learning, but also in Islamic religious education. This habit is the culture of literacy of the Koran which has been applied since 2003 until now, by Islamic Education teachers as an effort to increase students' motivation in learning Islamic Religious Education. The position of learning motivation is very important, as an activator in students who are related to learning activities and learning, so that it can run effectively. Each student certainly has a different motivation to learn, as well as for students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu. The difference in learning motivation is influenced by many factors both internal and external. Based on the background of the problem, the problem formulation is obtained: How is the culture of al-Qur'an literacy that is applied in increasing the motivation of learning PAI in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu and what factors can influence student motivation? The purpose of this study is: to describe the culture of al-Qur'an literacy that is applied to students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu, and identify what factors influence student motivation. The type of this research is field research, with a phenomenological approach, based on the phenomena that appear in Colomadu Middle School 2 as a place of research. Use observation, interview and documentation techniques to collect data and then be analyzed inductively from the specific to the general theory. Based on the results of research conducted by the author, the conclusion is: that the existence of al-Qur'an literacy culture that is applied can increase student enthusiasm and encourage students to be motivated to participate in Islamic Education learning. In addition, aspects of student literacy including reading, writing, listening and reciting also increased. While the factors that influence student motivation are clear desires and desires, a pleasant learning atmosphere, the existence of reward and punishment also affect. In addition, the existence of life experience and excessive use of gadgets on students also have an impact on student motivation, especially in studying religious knowledge in Islamic Religious Education.
