Abstract
Single plate friction clutch is one part of the components of the vehicle used to transfer torque and speed from the drive shaft to the shaft that is driven without slippage. This study aims to compare the results of mathematical calculations (manual) with the finite element method in the design of a single plate friction coupling. Tests carried out on the shaft with S30C material, spline with S30C material, friction plates with alloy steel material and springs with carbon steel wire material. The results of the simulation process with mathematical calculations (manual) are compared and a maximum deviation of 4,188% is obtained, with a deviation limit of 10% so that the deviation is accepted. Process of component modeling and simulation using a software Solidworks17.
