Abstract

Hemodialysis is an action to remove toxins, excessive fluids and nutrients that are actually still needed by the body, this is done in patients with chronic kidney failure in order to be able to survive. Patients with chronic kidney failure will be affected by anemia and have decreased HBs and serum iron which can result in fatigue, weakness, irregular heartbeat. In patients undergoing long-term hemodialysis therapy will also affect the Body Mass Index (BMI), so in patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy, it is necessary to increase the intake of nutrients that are appropriate and optimal. so it is very important support from the family that will affect the patient in motivating to obey his diit. This study aims to determine the relationship of family support with the nutritional status of hemodialysis patients at RSUD Ir. Soekarno, Sukoharjo Regency. This research is a correlative descriptive study. The population in this study was 176 patients who underwent hemodialysis therapy at Ir.Soekarno Regional Hospital, Sukoharjo Regency. The sample used was 64 patients with purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using the Spearman Rho test. The results of this study indicate that the majority of patients have good family support and the normal body mass index is 25 patients (75.8%) and patients with good family support with less hemoglobin levels are 36 patients (67.9%). Spearman Rho statistical test results obtained p = 0.001 and p = 0.013, with a significant value of p <0.05. There is a relationship between family support and nutritional status in hemodialysis patients in Ir. Soekarno Regional Hospital, Sukoharjo Regency. Suggestions for further researchers are expected to dig deeper into other factors not only from family support that affects the nutritional status of patients with chronic kidney failure.
