Abstract

The use of water in the tofu industry produces liquid waste containing suspended solids, dissolve solids, and other chemicals. To reduce the content of suspense solids, dissolve solids, and other chemicals it is necessary to treat wastewater before being discharged into the environment. One method of processing is by electrocoagulation process. Electrocoagulation is a coagulation process using direct current through electrochemical events, namely the symptoms of electrolyte decomposition, using metal electrodes. In this study will be studied the effect of voltage and speed of stirring on the content of pH, COD, BOD, and TSS contained in tofu liquid waste. This electrocoagulation process is carried out using a variation of 10, 20, 30 volts with a constant time of 1 hour and variations in stirring speed 100 rpm, 200 rpm and 300 rpm. In this research, the value of pH 6.09 ; COD of 245.76 mg/L ; BOD of 119.85 mg/L ; and TSS of 800 mg/L.
