Abstract

This study focuses on the issue of mass mobilization and its pattern in Omar Robert Hamilton’s The City Always Wins. The theory that is used in analysing this novel is Sociology of Literature. This research was conducted to analyse the characteristics of mass mobilization, how the author depicts the mass mobilization issue, and the reason why the author address this issue of mass mobilization in the very first place. In this study, the researcher uses primary data source and secondary data source. The researcher’s primary data source is novel entitled The City Always Wins, while articles and website with related information needed as the secondary data source. There are three main findings in this novel. First, there are three characteristics of mass mobilization found in the novel; such as organization, identity and action. Second, the author depicts the issue of mass mobilization by actors, aim and objective, and the result. Third, the author addresses the topic of mass mobilization based on the social phenomenon he witnessed as he involves himself in helping the protest and mass mobilization in Egypt back in 2011 ago.
