Abstract
Metal Spinning is the formation of metal plates that are formed in accordance with the shape of the mandrel. The metal sheet plate is cut in a circle first in accordance with the desired stretch of sheet. Then the plate is clamped between the forming blocks (mandrel) and the clamp. Then pressed gradually following the desired mandrel shape. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of using a lubricant and without using a lubricant in the Metal Spinning process product on the results of surface roughness testing and thickness distribution testing. In this study the material used was aluminum alloy 1100. In the lubrication using engine oil mesran brand with SAE 40. Based on the results of research and discussion it can be concluded that the results of the average surface roughness test specimens using lubricants have smaller surface roughness values, due to the lubricant minimizes friction between the roller and material. From the results of testing the thickness distribution on products without the use of lubricants have a smaller thickness number at each measurement point compared to products that use lubricants. The lubricant also prevents the material from developing defects during formation.
