Abstract
Metal spinning is the process of forming a sheet metal using a spinning method by pressing the sheet metal between the mandrel with the head of loose. Furthermore, the mandrel is rotated using a certain speed and is given a force press using a roller that has a lever to facilitate the process of forming on the sheet metal, so that sheet metal is formed like a mandrel form. The purpose of the study was to determine the influence of variations in the speed of the mandrel on surface roughness and the final thickness of the plate after the metal spinning process. This research uses aluminium plate material with a thickness of 1.2 mm which is in process using metal spinning process. The results of the best surface roughness research resulted in the use of 605 Rpm mandrel rotation speed of section 1 of 0625 μm, in section 2 of 0566 μm, and in section 3 of 0501 μm. Thickness measurement results show that The greatest thickness changes using the 605 RPM mandrel rotation speed and the least minor thickness changes using the 275 Rpm mandrel rotation speed.
