Abstract

This study aims to (1) Develop thematic map instructional media on flood disaster material for grade XI high school, (2) To know the feasibility of thematic map instructional media on flood disaster material for grade XI high school. This study used Borg and Gall’s Development Model which had been modified by Sukmadinata (2011) with three stages: (1) Preliminary Studies, (2) Development, and (3) Testing. The research was only until development stage. The study was conducted at three schools in Boyolali Regency, they were SMA N 1 Ngemplak, SMA N 1 Banyudono and MAN 1 Boyolali. Data collection technique used a questionnaire to assess the feasibility of the product being developed, final evaluation criteria of quantitative data in this study refer to conversion formula of quantitative data to qualitative data with scale 5 which stated by Anas Sudijono (2009). The first research results show the development stage of the thematic map media consisting of (a) library studies containing theories, (b) field surveys to get the data, (c) gathering drafts using ArcMap 10.2 and Corel DRAW X7, (d) preliminary field testing in SMA N 1 Ngemplak, (e) main field testing the product feasibility test in SMA N 1 Banyudono and MAN 1 Boyolali. The second research results, based on the data analysis questionnaire by material experts, media experts, teachers and students it is know that the development of thematic map media has an average grade of 4.4 with the category "very feasible" in all aspects. It can be used by teachers and students in the learning and teaching activities.
