Abstract

The development of Sharia banking in Indonesia from year to year continues to increase. With the publication of Law No. 10 of 1998 on the amendment of Law No. 7 of 1992 on banking followed by the issuance of a number of implementation provisions in the form of the decision letter (SK) Board of Directors BI/regulation of Bank Indonesia , has provided a stronger legal basis for the development of Sharia banking in Indonesia. Sharia banking industry is actually run based on sharia principles and systems. The Shariah Supervisory Board (DPS) which is the extension of the National Sharia Council (DSN) to straighten the transaction transactions. With good supervision, there will be a form of application of Sharia products that really correspond to those established by the DSN. In an effort to purify the service of sharia financial institutions to fully align with Islamic sharia provisions, the existence of Sharia supervisory Board (DPS) is absolutely necessary. This research aims to determine the position of DPS in BPRS Ahmad Dahlan Klaten. The results showed that the position of Sharia supervisory Board (DPS) is a representative of the National Sharia Council (DSN) which conducts periodic supervision on sharia financial institutions under its supervision, which must be established by each BPRS and domiciled by the Central office of BPRS, who have the duties and responsibilities of providing advice and advice to the board of directors and supervising the application of Sharia principles in gathering funds, financing and services activities BPRS
