Abstract
Jig and fixture are production tools that are used to hold the workpiece so that the result are precise and uniform. In the design process of jig and fixture must designed in specific way to support and maintain the position of the workpiece during machining process. Jig and fixture must be equipped with clear manual procedure with the aim that the output of the machining process is as planned, can be used by inexperienced operators, and minimize error in these tools (Hoffman, 1996). In the workpiece processing in industrial engineering automation laboratory of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, mini cnc machine is used. In the process, the machine does not yet have a qualified tools to processing the workpiece, so the output can be considered less precise and accurate. In adition, other factors that influence the lack of qualified tools are relatively expensive because in order to make a modular device requires relatively large cost and the required capacity is not industrial scale. Requirement for jig and fixture also must be flexible or can be used easily, plug and use so can minimize setup, loading and unloading time.
