Abstract
Pradita Diah Pangestika/A610140081. DEVELOPMENT OF BOOKLET INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA IN EARTHQUAKE MATERIAL TO IMPROVE LEARNING OUTCOMES IN CLASS VII STUDENTS OF SMP MUHAMMADIYAH 1 SURAKARTA. Thesis, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University, Surakarta. August, 2019. One component of education is able to improve the quality of learning which is learning media, one of the instructional learning is media booklet. The purpose of this study was to (1) find out the development of instructional media in the earthquake disaster material booklet for eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta, (2) find out the increase in student learning outcomes through the use of booklet learning media. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D), which refers to the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The number of respondents in this study was 60 students of class VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta, which were the control class and the experimental class. The control class was class VIII B with 30 students and the experimental class was class VIII A with 30 students. Data collection methods used were observation, questionnaire, test, and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this study was the analysis technique of T-test (paired sample T-test). The results showed (1) the learning media of the booklet was appropriate to use, this can be known through the acquisition of an average score of 4.4 material experts and an average score of 3.9 media experts. This means that the booklet learning media was suitable for learning on earthquake disaster material for students of class VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. (2) there was an increase in student learning outcomes in the experimental class. This can be known through the acquisition of the average value of the pretest control class of 49.8 and the pretest value of 70.1, while the experimental class obtained an average pretest value of 45.3 and a pretest value of 71.4 this proves that the average value of the experimental class is higher than the control class.
