INCREASED ACTIVENESS AND STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES IN THEMATIC LEARNING USING PROJECT BASED LEARNING FOR FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SONDAKAN LAWEYAN SURAKARTA. August, 2019 This study aims to find out: 1) improvement in the learning activities of fifth grade students in the learning process in class using the project based learning model. 2) Increasing student learning outcomes in class V using the project based learning model in SD N Sondakan 11 Laweyan, Surakarta. This study uses a class action research (CAR) method which is carried out in two cycles and each cycle is held twice. Data collection techniques used are observation, documentation, tests. The results of the pre-cycle research showed that the average results of student activeness of 50.48%, while the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes by 38% included in the category of failure. In the first cycle the average results of student activity gained by 65.76% included in the medium category, while the percentage of completeness of the learning outcomes of students in the first cycle was 59% which was included in the less category. In cycle II the average results of student activeness of 77.68% included in the category of student learning activeness is high, while the percentage of students completeness learning is 79% in the good category. Thus it can be stated that the use of project based learning models can improve student learning activeness in class and student learning outcomes in fifth grade SD N Sondakan Laweyan, Surakarta.
