Abstract

One of the transportation problems that can be seen directly is the long queues around the railway crossing. This condition is also seen at the Pasar Nongko railway crossing, Surakarta. This study aims to determine the performance of road segments around the crossing. The survey was conducted for 6 hours to get primary data in the form of geometric data, traffic volume, travel time, duration of crossing closure, queue length, and number of vehicles in the queue. Other data used is secondary data consisting of population and location map. This study was analyzed using the 1997 MKJI Method. The results of the analysis obtained the maximum volume and average speed respectively of 2463.60 pcu / hour and 23.52 km / hour from the East, and 1217.30 pcu / hour and 19.38 km / hour from the West. This study also found the degree of saturation, the number of queue and queue length whose values in the sequence are 0.9515, 103.33 pcu, 103.43 meters for the East, and 0.8502, 107.81 pcu, 127.43 meters for West direction. Based on the above values, the performance of the road around the crossing is currently not good. Therefore it is necessary to try to solve the problem, including by optimizing its capacity and regulating the movement of passing vehicles.
