Abstract
Critical reading at this time became a topic of warm discussion in the world of educarion, especially in the foundation, to become research materials. Critical reading ability in basic is still low. The purpose of this research is: to describe students ' understanding of critical reading comprehension through multimodal text, and to display the impact of critical reading on high-end students through multimodal texts. Types of qualitative research descriptive. Research location at SD Muhammadiyah 10 Tipes and SD N Serengan 1. The research resource is the principal, teacher, and high-class student. Data collection techniques use live-to-passive observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data of the analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion withdrawal. Legitimacy of data with source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of the study were two. 1) The understanding of critical reading of top class students through multimodal texts. The result of the critical reading of high-end students through multimodal texts has been good enough by providing a percentage 2 score of 24.73% and 55.78%, from the outcome of such a percentage can be noted that students have not fully understood about the multimodal text, students Still need regular guidance by the teacher in understanding the multimodal text. 2) The impact of critical reading on high-class students. The negative impact of critical reading is, there are still some students who have not understood about critical reading and multimodal texts, students still difficulty in accepting the intent of the display of the media presented, and lack of facilities and infrastructure in support Learning activities through multimodal text. The positive impact of critical reading is that it can increase student reading interest, adding insight to the information they read.
